Authentic Handcrafted Punched Tin Craftsmanship

Handcrafted Punched Tin, Designed to Suit — Since 1979

From a humble mail-order beginning to a worldwide artisan brand, every piece we create carries forward a legacy of craftsmanship, tradition, and purpose.

OUR BEGINNING

In the fall of 1979, founders James and Marie Palotas brought together their shared passion for European and American folk art design, antiquing, and the beauty of handmade punched tin panels found in early American furniture.

What began as a mail-order company—Country Accents—quickly became recognized for its dedication to preserving and reimagining authentic pierced tin and custom metal panel designs for homes across the country.

With a background in mechanical training and years of research and study, James became the driving force behind the development of many of the custom punched tin patterns still offered today. Much of his work remains exclusive to Country Accents, blending historical authenticity with thoughtful innovation—creating handcrafted tin panels that honor traditional techniques while fitting seamlessly into modern spaces.

A Tradition Forged by Hand

After decades of dedication to the craft, James and Marie retired in 2009—passing on not just a business, but a time-honored tradition.

THE CRAFT LIVES ON

After more than a decade of hands-on mentorship under James and Marie, Theresa Sullivan—current owner of Pierced Tin Designs LLC by Country Accents—continues that legacy with a deep commitment to quality, craftsmanship, and detail.

From sourcing raw metals to preparing, antiquing, and finishing each piece with a protective coating, every step of the process is handled with care and precision. Each panel is thoughtfully adapted to suit the customer’s space, offering custom sizes and patterns not typically found in mass-produced products.

Whether used in cabinetry, furniture, or architectural accents, these handcrafted pierced tin panels bring warmth, character, and authenticity to any setting.

The craft of punching itself is a skilled art form, using a wide variety of specialized tools—many shaped right here in our studio. From base chisels to finely detailed punches, these tools create the distinctive textures and patterns that make our work immediately recognizable.

Each piece is individually crafted—making every panel truly one of a kind.

A LEGACY THAT CONTINUES

Today, Pierced Tin Designs continues to honor its roots while creating custom pierced tin panels that are made to order, rich in character, and deeply connected to tradition—offering customers a truly unique alternative to mass-produced décor.
